Thread Lift: The Most Complete Guide to This Treatment
Everything about thread lifts in Bávaro, Punta Cana: types, areas, results, duration, and what to expect before and after the procedure.
What Are Tensor Threads?
Tensor threads are strands of biocompatible, biodegradable material (PDO, PLLA, or PCL) that are inserted under the skin using very fine needles. Once placed, they produce an immediate mechanical lifting effect and stimulate collagen production around the thread over the following months.
They are the ideal treatment when sagging no longer responds well enough to radiofrequency or HIFU, but surgery is not yet justified.
Types of Threads and Their Applications
- Smooth threads: Without barbs. They are used in a mesh pattern to stimulate collagen. Ideal for improving the texture and quality of the skin.
- Barbed threads (cog): With small barbs that anchor the tissue and produce the lifting effect. They are the most widely used to tighten the facial contour, cheeks, and neck.
- Suspension threads: For a more pronounced lift of specific areas.
Who Is a Candidate for a Thread Lift?
They are ideal for patients aged 35 to 60 with moderate sagging of the mid and lower face, a drooping facial contour, or loss of jawline definition. They are also excellent for the neck and décolletage.
They are not suitable for patients with very severe sagging or significant excess skin, where surgery offers better results. Honesty in treatment selection is fundamental to my practice.
Results, Duration, and Aftercare
The lifting effect is visible immediately after the procedure. Results improve over the following 2-3 months as collagen increases. The duration ranges between 12 and 24 months depending on the type of thread and the patient's metabolism.
During the first few days there may be some swelling and tenderness. It is recommended to avoid facial massages, intense heat, and exaggerated facial movements during the first weeks. In Punta Cana we recommend scheduling the treatment well ahead of important events.
