Lip Augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid: A Guide to a Natural Result
Learn how to achieve fuller, more defined lips without losing a natural look. Everything about lip augmentation at our clinic in Bávaro.
The Key: Proportion, Not Just Volume
The most common mistake in lip augmentation is focusing solely on adding volume. At Med Luxe, my approach always starts with an analysis of facial proportions: the relationship between the upper and lower lip, the projection of the philtrum, and harmony with the rest of the face.
A good lip result should not be obvious. It should look as if you had always had those lips.
Injection Techniques for Natural Lips
There are several techniques depending on the goal: definition of the vermilion border, hydration and central projection, or correction of asymmetries. The combination of techniques and the amount of product determine the final result.
- Lip lining: Defines the contour without adding excessive volume
- Hydration: Improves the texture and luminosity of the lips
- Filling: Adds volume gradually and in a controlled way
How Much Product Is Needed?
Less than you might think. For natural-looking lips, we often work with 0.5 to 1 ml of hyaluronic acid. I always recommend starting with a conservative amount: it is easier to add in a second session than to correct an excess.
This gradual approach is especially appreciated by our patients in Bávaro, many of whom seek discretion and a natural look over extreme volume.
Aftercare and Recovery
It is normal for the lips to look fuller during the first 2-3 days due to swelling. Apply cold with soft cloths (not ice directly), and avoid intense sun, heat, and strong kissing for 48 hours.
Avoid intense physical activity on the day of treatment. The final result settles at 2 weeks and can last between 6 and 12 months depending on each person's metabolism.
