Botox vs Dermal Fillers: Which One You Need for Your Case
Botox and fillers are complementary, not substitutes. We explain the differences so you know which treatment is right for you in Bávaro.
The Most Common Mistake: Confusing Them
Many patients come to my office in Bávaro thinking that Botox and fillers are the same, or that one replaces the other. In reality, they work in completely different ways and, in many cases, complement each other to achieve a more complete result.
Understanding the difference allows you to have realistic expectations and choose the treatment you truly need for your specific case.
Botox: For Expression and Movement Wrinkles
Botox acts on the muscle. It temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles: those that appear when you make expressions, frown, or smile. It does not add volume or fill static folds.
- Indicated for: forehead, glabella, crow's feet, neck
- Duration: 4-6 months
- Result: smoothing of expression lines, a well-rested appearance
Fillers: For Volume, Structure, and Static Folds
Hyaluronic acid fillers act on the tissue. They restore lost volume, fill folds that exist even at rest, and improve the projection of areas such as the cheekbones, lips, or chin.
- Indicated for: nasolabial folds, lips, under-eye hollows, cheekbones, chin
- Duration: 6-18 months depending on the area
- Result: restoration of volume, structural rejuvenation
When to Combine Them?
The combination of Botox and fillers is what we specialists call a "liquid facelift." It is one of the most requested treatments at Med Luxe: it allows for an overall facial rejuvenation in a minimally invasive way, with no surgery and minimal recovery.
During the consultation we assess your case, identify which type of aging predominates in your face, and design the most efficient and natural plan possible.
